RUTHE, Schwaigern | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The partly terraced VDP.GROSSE LAGE® RUTHE is quite steep with a 20 to 40 percent gradient. The Siegelsberg protects vines from cold north and west winds. The south exposition and location at 246 to 307 metres a.s.l. enhances solar radiation in the vineyard. This promotes early flowering and a long ripening period for highly ripe grapes. The soil is Gipskeuper with coloured marl in the upper area. Predominantly Riesling and Lemberger are cultivated here. VDP.vintner: Graf Neipperg (monopole site). History: The Ruthe was first mentioned in 1385. The name can linguistically be traced back to the clearing of the slope together with the Schlossberg.
