HONIGBERG, Nieder-Hilbersheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

First mentioned in 1740. The name refers to early plantings of so-called Hunnic grape varieties. The site is located on the Westerberg - between the Appenheimer Hundertgulden and the Nieder-Hilbersheimer Steinacker, both VDP.GROSSE LAGEN. Exposed to the south-west, with a slope of 30 to 50% and altitudes between 190 and 240 metres above sea level. The microclimate is sheltered from the wind and warm - characterised by a quiet location and even ripening. The soils consist of tertiary limestone with limestone clay - interspersed with visible ironstone, an iron-rich tropical soil. This composition gives the Rieslings structure, flavour and a clear mineral character. The Honigberg produces wines with substance and tension. Fine exotic fruit, salty length, pronounced complexity.
