First mentioned in 1362. An elevated terraced site on the edge of the forest in Nieder-Hilbersheim - cool, restrained, full of character. The west to north-west orientation ensures slow ripening and cool air movement. 210 to 250 metres above sea level, 14 to 30% slope. Even in warm years, the climate remains balanced - the harvest starts late here. The soil is characterised by limestone and clay marl, interspersed with ferrous veins. Coarse chunks of iron are exposed - rough, angular, durable.
