KIRCHENPFAD, Rüdesheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KIRCHENPFAD is situated between the St. Hildegard Abbey and the Rüdesheim hamlet Eibingen. One has a good view here of the Rüdesheim centre and the Rhine River all the way to Bingen and the mouth of the Nahe River. This south-facing Riesling vineyard rises at a 5 to 30 % gradient from 170 to 208 metres a.s.l. The soils are loess loam and sandy loam with slate interstratifications. They have good water storage capacity. History: The path through the vineyard that once led to the church in Eibingen lends this site its name: “Kirche” is church, while “Pfad” is path. Eibingen has belonged to the city of Rüdesheim in Rheingau since 1935.
