VORDERER WINKLERBERG, Ihringen | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® VORDERER WINKLERBERG forms the southwest border of the Winklerberg vineyard (117 ha). It is the warmest vineyard in Germany and has a nearly subtropical climate. The terraced GL VORDERER WINKLERBERG has numerous dry stone walls and together with the rocky soils and meagre rock faces of red tephrite, the warmth stored in them intensifies the microclimate. The soils are predominantly well-drained weathered volcanic rock with limestone. The GL VORDERER WINKLERBERG lies between 190 and 295 metres a.s.l. History: The VORDERER WINKLERBERG vineyard was planted in a dolerite quarry at the beginning of the 19th century.
