KASTANIENBUSCH "KÖPPEL"*, Birkweiler | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®
The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KASTANIENBUSCH “KÖPPEL” is a circular cone-shaped rise planted with vines at the eastern foot of the Hohenberg in the Palatinate Forest. The vineyard faces south to east and is bordered by the GL KASTANIENBUSCH to the west. The Bunter sandstone of the GL KASTANIENBUSCH KÖPPEL differs from the soil of its neighbour, where iron-rich Rotliegend slate dominates. The 9-hectare vineyard extends from 200 to 320 metres a.s.l. at a gentle 15 % gradient.
