REITERPFAD - AN DEN ACHTMORGEN, Ruppertsberg | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The 12-hectare VDP.GROSSE LAGE® REITERPFAD AN DEN ACHTMORGEN is situated in the lower, southeast facing slope of the VDP.ERSTEN LAGE® Reiterpfad and borders the road from Deidesheim to Ruppertsberg. The flat 5 to 10 % slope has a nearly Mediterranean climate. The Haardt hills protect it from cold west winds and rain, allowing it to benefit from the warm Rhine Plain weather. Stone walls that cross the lower Reiterpfad also store the warmth of the day and release it into the vines in the night. The soils have a high limestone content that stems from an ancient mussel bank that has been thrust to the surface by a tectonic shift. This weathered shell limestone mixes with sand, sandy loam, and Bunter sandstone rubble. Although the soils are very rocky, they have high water storage capacity.
