Burkheimer Feuerberg | VDP.ERSTE LAGE®

The terraces of the VDP.ERSTE LAGE® Burkheimer Feuerberg lie at an altitude of 230-240 metres above sea level in the western Kaiserstuhl. The vineyards in the upper third of the site face south and are sheltered from the cold north winds. The sun shines down on this vineyard all day long. The dark soil stores the sun's heat and gives it back to the vines at night. Because of this warm climate and its volcanic origins, the vineyard was named Feuerberg („Fire Mountain“). It is a weathered volcanic soil covered with loess. The clay is very sandy with a low stone content and is moderately chalky.
