Rauenthaler Gehrn | VDP.ERSTE LAGE®




The VDP.ERSTE LAGE® GEHRN is located in the Rheingau village Rauenthal. The soils are quartzite and slate with wind deposited loess. The south-facing vineyards rise from 150 to 180 metres a.s.l. at a 55 % gradient. Riesling is cultvated in the EL GEHRN History: The vineyard “ufm Giren” was mentioned in documents dating 1688. The Old High German word “Ger” means “spear” and refers to the wedge shape of the site that is reminiscent of the tip of a spear.
