ÖLBERG - HART, Königsbach | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® ÖLBERG-HART is the choice parcel of the Ölberg vineyard. It is located directly on the edge of the Palatinate Forest on the crest of the Haardt hills and rises from 140 to 200 metres a.s.l. at a 5 to 10 %. The east-south-east exposition opens toward the Rhine Plain and bathes vines in sunshine from the early morning hours. The forest provides cool air and a shadow on hot afternoons. Refreshing breezes from the valley also reach the fines. The soils are Terra fusca, a tertiary calcareous marl, which is mixed with Bunter sandstone rubble in the upper surface. The clay content in the soil provides vines with good water availability. History: The ÖLBERG-HART was categorized in the Royal Bavarian Land Classification of 1828 as the best parcel of the Ölberg.
