HORN, Ingelheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

Two VDP.GROSSE LAGE® are located adjacent to one another at the foot of the Mainzer Berg, the PARES GL and the significantly larger HORN GL. The west facing slopes rise visibly above the town of Ober-Ingelheim. The 34 hectares of loess and sandy loam stretch from 250 metres a.s.l. As it is the tradition in Ingelheim, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is the predominant grape variety. The climate is characterized by the foothills of the Taunus- and Hunsrückprotected Rhine Valley. History: The location was first mentioned in 1570 by the name "am Horn". Horn is a common name in Rheinhessen for the protruding mountains.
