GEIERSBERG, Dittelsheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®




The 3.2 hectare VDP.GROSSE LAGE® GEIERSBERG lies within the significantly larger Geiersberg vineyard. It is the gently sloping foot of the Kloppberg at a five to ten percent gradient. The GEIERSBERG GL lies between 190 and 210 meters a.s.l. The vines grow in deep calcareous clay marl. The predominant varieties are Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). History: Birds of prey were called “Geier” in the middle ages. The site is named for the presence of raptors here.
