SONNENBERG, Leinsweiler | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The well exposed VDP.GROSSE LAGE® SONNENBERG faces south on the lower slope of the Fohrenberg in the Palatinate Forest where it is well protected from rain and cold weather fronts from the west. With a 30 % slope, the site is relatively steep compared to the other rather flat sites of the Pfalz. This intensifies the solar radiation. Marl and limestone with abundant fossilized mussels and even shark teeth distinguish this 10-hectare GL. The soils have good water storage capacity.
