The soils of the VDP.GROSSEN LAGE® RÄDLING are quite meagre: calcareous marl with limestone, sometimes even with pure rock with a scant layer of earth towards the top of the site. Available water in the upper reaches is low, but is quite sufficient down lower. This steep southeast-facing GL rises at a 35 % gradient to 300 metres a.s.l. and is situated in a wind-protected side valley of Lauter. As this vineyard is located in France, German wine estates are not allowed to use the vineyards name on the label.
