The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KIRCHBERG is a small 3-hectare parcel in the Kalmit vineyard located directly under its highest peak, the 270 – 280 -metre Kleinen Kalmit, directly on the outskirt of Ilbesheim. Loess and shell limestone dominate the soils with the lime, in particular, providing good water availability. The 15 30 % slope of this parcel faces southwest and collects the warmth of the evening sun. This warmth is stored in the soils and released into the vines late into the evening.
