FREUNDSTÜCK, Forst | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

At just 3.31 hectares, the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® FREUNDSTÜCK is the smallest of the vineyards in Forst and is located directly adjacent to GL KIRCHENSTÜCK and GL JESUITENGARTEN. The GL FREUNDSTÜCK also benefits from the warmth radiated from the surrounding buildings and although the microclimate is relatively warm, it cools down more during the night than the GL KIRCHENSTÜCK. Bunter sandstone rubble with clay particles comprises the soils found over a limestone plate. The site is relatively flat with a 5 to 10 % slope that is oriented toward the south. The site lies at 110 to 120 metres a.s.l. History: The classification of this site is based on the Royal Bavarian Land Classification of 1828, which places the Freundstück at the pinnacle of Pfalz vineyards.
