ZELLERWEG AM SCHWARZEN HERRGOTT, Mölsheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® ZELLERWEG AM SCHWARZEN HERRGOTT surrounds the west side of Mölsheim, nearly on the border to the Palatinate. Its highest point is located at 200 metres in a south-southeast direction in the Zeller Valley. Light winds are constant in the Ziller Valley and the drying of wet grapes is accelerated. The Donnerberg Mountain to the west provides large diurnal temperature fluctuations. Nights carry cool air from the Palatinate Forest through the valley. Loess and marl dominate the soil. History: According to historic chronicles, the Schwarzer Herrgott site is one of the oldest vineyards in Germany. The name stems from a weathered cross that was erected by St. Philipp von Zell in the 8th century.
