OBERER HUBACKER, Flörsheim-Dalsheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

Located within the Hubacker vineyard, the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® HUBACKER comprises predominantly the southeast exposed “Oberer Hubacker” parcel. The site lies in the wind-protected rain shadow of the Donnersberg at 170 bis 200 metres a.s.l.. The vines grow on skeletal loess, clay marl and limestone blocks interspersed with loam and slightly stony loamy clay. Hugh Johnson describes the site as “an unspectacular hill with perfect soil and climate conditions”. The main variety is Riesling. History: The vineyard name can be traced back to the Dalsheim ledger of 1490 that reports of five “Huffe”, later called “Hube”, which was a measure of land area. “Acker” is an agricultural field.
