KIRCHBERG, Bingen | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KIRCHBERG is located below the Chapel of St. Rochus in Bingen. It has a southeast to east exposition and lies at 100 to 180 metres a.s.l. The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® singles out the parcels of the Kirchberg vineyard that drop north and northeast toward the Rhine River and Rheingau. The weathered rock is planted primarily with Riesling. The climate is dry and windy, particularly in the upper area. The vineyard slopes at 10 to 30 percent. History: The first documentation of the site “im Kirchberg” stems from the year 1726. The responsible church was probably the neighbouring Kempten parish church.
