IDIG, Königsbach | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® IDIG rests majestically on an impressive limestone massif. The slope drops at 20 percent gradient toward the south – relatively steep for the Pfalz. The Haardt hills and the Rolandsberg are close enough to protect the site from cold west winds, but far enough not to throw a shadow over the site. The seven-hectare vineyard lies at 125 metres a.s.l. and enjoys long summer days with sunshine long into the evening. Gentle winds fall from the neighbouring Stabenberg and keep grapes dry and healthy. The top soil of the GL IDIG is Terra fusca, which unites limestone and clay with variegated sandstone rubble and sometimes even with basalt. Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) grow here.
