MAUSTAL, Sulzfeld | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® MAUSTAL lies within the Maustal vineyard, a large amphitheatre formed by the Main River south of Sulzfeld. The slope falls toward the south and southeast at a steep 50 percent gradient. The soil of the four-hectare GL is meagre, skeletal shell limestone that forces vines to thrust their roots deep. The slope is planted mostly with Silvaner, Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir).
