ROSENGARTEN, Oestrich | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

Numerous stone walls that retain warmth cross the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® ROSENGARTEN. The site borders Oestrich to the east, close to the Rhine River. The flat south slope is 1.9 hectares situated at 93 metres a.s.l. The soils are comprised primarily of pebbly and very sandy loam with a high share of carbon and terraced sediment. History: As the name leads one to believe, there was once a rose garden here. In the German wine law reform of 1971, the historic open-field system land parcel called “Oestricher Rosengarten” disappeared and was changed to “Oestricher Lenchen”. Since 2014, this prime vineyard once again carries its historic name ROSENGARTEN.
