The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® WINKLERBERG "FOHRENBERG" surrounds the small, Asian-like pagoda in the middle of the southern tongue of the Winklerberg vineyard. It is located in the warms vineyard in Germany and has a Mediterranean climate. Warm air masses from the Rhône travel through the so-called Burgundian gates (through the Saône Valley and the plains between Jura and the Vosges Mountains) and over the Upper Rhine Plain. The dark and porous weathered volcanic rock also stores the warmth and radiates in gradually to the vines. The GL lies on 280 metres a.s.l. and is 7,8 hectares in size. In this vineyard you find Chardonnay as well as Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Spätburgunder.
