MANDELBERG, Birkweiler | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®
The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® MANDELBERG lies southwest of Birkweiler in the wind and rain protected east-south-east slope at 260-320 metres a.s.l. on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. The slope has a 5 to 10 % gradient. Vines rood in shell limestone with loam and clay marl with white limestone pebbles. The pebbles store the day’s warmth and release it into the vines at night, thus prolonging the ripening period for grapes.
