Britzinger Muggardter Berg | VDP.ERSTE LAGE®

The VDP.ERSTE LAGE® Muggardter Berg is located between Laufen and Britzingen, in Muggardt. Riesling and Chardonnay are grown in this limestone-dominated site. The very poor soils force the vines to root deeply and draw on nutrients in the lower layers. At 400 meters above sea level, directly on the edge of the Black Forest and with a 35 percent slope, the climate is significantly cooler. The eastern exposure ensures early morning warming and a long growing season. These characteristics make it one of the few sites in the Markgräflerland region suitable for Riesling.
