HERRENBERG, Oppenheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®




The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® HERRENBERG is located slightly above Oppenheim on the side of the village that looks away from the Rhine. The sun’s full potential comes into play in this wind-protected site with an east to south aspect. The vines, predominantly Riesling, grow in calcareous marl with relatively high clay content. The HERRENBERG GL rises from 140 to 160 metres a.s.l. with a moderate slope gradient of 35 percent. History: The name is based on the possession of a spiritual or temporal lord. It is assumed that these were the lords of Dalberg.
