The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KIRSCHHECK is a south-facing slope on the undulating bank of the Nahe near Norheim. The 14-hectare site has a moderate 10 % to a steep 50 % slope gradient and sits at 120 to 190 metres a.s.l. The soils are comprised of mudstone and mudstone slate from the Permian period, but in some areas also of loess and loess loam banks. The soils, in particular the slate parts, are easily warmed and provide grapes with an extended ripening period along with good water availability.
