International Symposium
Masters of Wine in Wiesbaden

What a premiere: The 10th International Symposium of the Institute of Masters of Wine took place in Germany for the first time.

Every four years, the Institute of Masters of Wine hosts the international Masters of Wine Symposium. From 29 June to 2 July, around 500 international guests, more than 150 Masters of Wine, as well as sommeliers, the trade, the press and also wine professionals came together in Wiesbaden to take part in exceptional tastings as well as exciting lectures and panel discussions and to exchange views on the future of the wine industry on a global level.
We look back on a successful German premiere of the symposium and a networking highlight at the very top of its class.

Together with the state of Hessen, the city of Wiesbaden and the German Wine Institute, the VDP presented itself as a supporter and companion of the 10th IMW Symposium.

"It is unique that such a great programme was staged during the past four days in Wiesbaden - a tribute to the German wine industry. The top audience of wine professionals, the exciting panels and speaker personalities were unbeatable in terms of professionalism. One of the many evening highlights was the VDP.Estate Dinner on Saturday, to which almost 60 of the VDP.Winemakers jointly invited guests and once again demonstrated the status and recognition that the wines from Germany's top vineyards enjoy worldwide."
Theresa Olkus, VDP

Dinner at home with the VDP.Winemakers

It was a particular pleasure for us to invite the participants to a very special evening programme on the second day of the symposium: "Dinner at home with the VDP.Winemakers".

Twenty VDP.Estates from the Rheingau, Rheinhessen and Nahe regions, together with colleagues from all over Germany, welcomed and entertained the guests with a tailor-made programme of guided tours, tastings and varied dinner concepts.

After all, where else can you get to know the people, their visions, the wines and of course the different terroirs as authentically as at the estate itself?

Below is a list of the estates that have joined forces for this very special evening in order to be able to present the guests with the greatest possible variety.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the VDP.Members for this unique evening, which gave the symposium participants a comprehensive insight into the world of VDP.Estates: from wines from the treasure chambers back to 1935, historic buildings, various large bottles to guided tours through world-famous vineyard sites.
We are also very thankful for the tremendous and important behind-the-scenes efforts of all the people involved.
