VDP:Where and how did you get the wine bug?  

Maureen O’Hara: I was lucky in that my first  job after college was with a Spanish trading company.  I progressed from Spanish beer (not very exciting) to Spanish wine (infinitely more interesting)! 

VDP:Your first encounter with German wines? 

Maureen O’Hara: Through a German importer who lived in Ireland, Joe Karwig.   He tried to convince me that German wines were very simple to understand!

VDP: If it comes to German grape varieties, what is your favourite? Riesling, Spätburgunder or other?                      

Maureen O’Hara: I immediately think of German Riesling when having poached or baked Irish salmon.
