VDP Guest Region at the “Cata de Territorios”
Two wine regions, one common topic: origin
On October 19th 2026, SUBSIERRA invites you to the second edition of the “Cata de Territorios” in Donostia-San Sebastián. This year, the VDP will be the featured guest region.
Located between the Sierra de Toloño in Cantabria and the Ebro River, SUBSIERRA brings together eight family-run wineries from Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. Together, they champion a style of winegrowing that is deeply rooted in their own territory – with a commitment to making the origin, landscape and unique characteristics of individual vineyards visible and tangible in their wines.
At the “Cata de Territorios,” SUBSIERRA and VDP come together as two distinct wine regions united by a shared vision: wine begins with its origins. Trade visitors will have the opportunity to taste wines from both organizations, engage in conversation with the producers and discover different perspectives on origin and terroir.
In addition to the open tasting featuring wines from SUBSIERRA and numerous VDP.estates, the program includes two english-language masterclasses:
- 12:00 pm | Old Vines, Great Sites – How Old Vines Shape World-Class Wines
Four VDP.wines will be paired with four wines from SUBSIERRA to demonstrate the role that old vines and great vineyard sites play in shaping a wine.
- 01:30 pm | Can You Taste Limestone?
A sensory exploration of how limestone manifests itself in wine – featuring four wines from each of the two regions.
The event is exclusively for professionals in the wine and gastronomy industries, including sommeliers, importers, retailers, restaurateurs, trade press representatives and other influencers in the wine industry. Participation is free and requires prior professional accreditation. Seats for both masterclasses are limited and will be assigned on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
