VDP: What is so special about your winery?
Gerhard Grans: Our winery has been in existence since 1624 - currently the winery is managed by the 12th generation. Every year we store about 25 percent of our wines from VDP.GROSSEN LAGE® back in our winery in order to market them at a later date. Thus, wine lovers can acquire perfectly matured great wines.

VDP: What is your winery philosophy?
Gerhard Grans: Only the best is good enough. Top locations are the basis for world-class wines.
VDP: What wine style do you aim for?
Gerhard Grans: Elegant, puristic wines combined with a high minerality. Of course, our favourite variety of shrimp is Riesling.

VDP: Which of your wines would you recommend to someone who does not yet know your winery - as an introduction, so to speak?
Gerhard Grans: Our VDP.GUTSWEIN Riesling Mineralschiefer dry or our VDP.ORTSWEIN Leiwen Riesling Alte Reben dry.
"WE OFFER YOU ELEGANT, PURISTIC WINES COMBINED WITH A HIGH MINERALITY."
VDP: Which wine are you particularly proud of?
Gerhard Grans: On the wines from our vineyards classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGE®, especially on the matured Riesling wines.
VDP: What are your next goals?
Gerhard Grans: The handover to my daughter Catherina, the 13th generation! And we want to expand our distribution network from currently 18 different export markets.

VDP: How do you combine tradition and innovation?
Gerhard Grans: The simple rule applies: adherence to traditions without closing off innovations.
VDP: Why should I still visit your winery?
Gerhard Grans: Because of the unique view of the Mosel loop between Leiwen and Trittenheim.
