This Auslese showcases Botrytis in its finest, purest form. Honey, beeswax and Turkish delight characterise the profile, complemented by puréed white-fleshed peach, which lends a juicy, almost melting fruitiness. The first subtle hints of ginger emerge, which will become more pronounced as the wine matures. On the palate, the wine is creamy and dense, yet possesses the astonishing lightness that makes great Auslese wines so fascinating. The residual sugar never feels opulent or overpowering, but is perfectly balanced by a mature, refined acidity. The three years of ageing have brought all the facets together; everything is in balance, with no single element dominating the others. A wine of such beauty that it already hints at its future potential. - Caro Maurer MW
