The HALENBERG vineyard, which covers just 8.5 hectares, is planted exclusively with Riesling - two thirds of the vineyard is owned by the Emrich-Schönleber winery. The stony soil is characterised by blue slate and quartzite and produces small-berried, highly aromatic grapes. Botrytis is rather rare here. When it does occur, it is all the purer.
2005 was a great year for sweet wines, as the dry and sunny autumn weather ensured a high concentration of juice in the grapes. As a result, two different Trockenbeerenauslese wines were produced in the Halenberg, with the ‘Goldkapsel’ being the more concentrated and at the same time even more precise.
The majority of this wine was auctioned off in 2008. A small part remained in the winery's treasure trove.
Almost twenty years after its harvest, this Trockenbeerenauslese Goldkapsel shows its full class. Enormously youthful, highly precise in its exotic fruit expression and with fine honey and sultana flavours.
