Origin
The ‘Devonschiefer’ is a selection from our best Pinot Noir steep vineyards. The Reserve is the best barrel of this selection and is only marketed after two years of slow maturation. We cultivate almost 7 hectares of vineyards in steep and steeply sloping sites in the Ahr valley, all of which have a more or less high proportion of Devonian slate rock. This rock, which is up to 360 million years old, gives the wines the mineral flavour typical of the Ahr and serves as a heat reservoir for the vines.

Partially integrated viticulture. Traditional, open mash fermentation.
