VDP:What is so special about your winery?

Maximin von Schubert: The monopole vineyard Maximin Grünhaus with its VDP.GROSSE LAGE® sites ABTSBERG, HERRENBERG and BRUDERBERG. Here in this region we can look back on almost 2,000 years of wine-growing tradition, from Roman times to modern times. The architecture of the castle and its ensemble are also truly unique. We are happy to be the sixth family generation to run the winery.

VDP: What is your winery philosophy?

Maximin von Schubert: Living and tasting sustainable, elegant Maximin Grünhaus wines.

“OUR NEXT GOAL IS TO BRING NEW LIFE INTO THE HISTORIC KELTERHAUS WITH THE NEW VINOTHEK AND TO INTENSIFY AWARENESS FOR RUWER.”

VDP:Of which wine are you particularly proud?

Maximin von Schubert: Of our triad of Riesling GG, Superior off-dry and fruity predicated sweet wines.

VDP:Why did you become a vintner?

Maximin von Schubert: Out of tradition, joy, commitment to nature – and of course because wine tastes so delicious!

VDP: How do you combine tradition and innovation?

Maximin von Schubert: Everything has to change to remain the same! And when I look to the future, it won’t work without modern machines on steep slopes, while manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation in the cellar remain essential.

VDP: Why should people visit your winery?

Maximin von Schubert: Steep slopes, history and quality unite in a unique place here.
