VDP:What is so special about your winery?
Tom Drieseberg: We are a 100 % Riesling winery with a unique portfolio of VDP.GROSSE LAGE® vineyards in the two most important Riesling growing regions of the world: Mosel and Rheingau.

VDP:What is your winery philosophy?
Tom Drieseberg: Quality – period.
VDP:For what wine style do you strive?
Tom Drieseberg: We produce classic and very long-lived Rieslings.
VDP:Which of your wines would you recommend to someone who does not yet know your winery – as an introduction, so to speak?
Tom Drieseberg: Our VDP.GUTSWEIN from the Mosel or our Wegeler Riesling Charta from the Rheingau.

“OUR GEHEIMRAT ‘J’ IS A BENCHMARK FOR DRY GRAND CRU WINES FROM GERMAN VINEYARDS.”
VDP: Why did you become a vintner? When did your calling come? Was there a special experience?
Tom Drieseberg: It was pure coincidence and yet lucid. I have always experienced my life with my nose, so the change from industry to wine followed a certain logic.

VDP:Do you have or did you have role models or mentors?
Tom Drieseberg: My first boss in industry: Carlhanns Damm and my father-in-law Rolf Wegeler.
VDP:What are your next goals?
Tom Drieseberg: We want to achieve further qualitative improvements and even more sustainability at our wine estate.
VDP:How do you combine tradition and innovation?
Tom Drieseberg: The two together for me. Almost all good traditions are based on great innovations. And most good innovations will eventually become tradition.

VDP:Why should people visit your winery?
Tom Drieseberg: There is hardly a place that can enchant people’s hearts more than the Moselle Valley.
VDP:If your wine were music, what would it be?
Tom Drieseberg: Frank Sinatra: a classic, sometimes thoughtful, sometimes cheerful
