VDP: What is so special about your winery?

Clemens Busch: We cultivate Riesling on steep slopes according to biodynamic principles. Our old manor house on the Moselle with its very own view of the vineyards is certainly something quite extraordinary. And beautiful things.

VDP:What is your winery philosophy?

Clemens Busch: Quality comes from the vineyard. In the cellar we focus on traditional fuder maturation - and a lot of time.

VDP: What wine style do you aim for?

Clemens Busch: We want Riesling from fully ripe grapes, spontaneously fermented with long yeast contact.

VDP: Which of your wines would you recommend to someone who does not yet know your winery - as an introduction, so to speak?

Clemens Busch: Our Riesling from the red slate VDP.ORTSWEIN.

VDP: Which wine are you particularly proud of?

Clemens Busch: On our Riesling from our Felsterasse parcel in the VDP.GROSSEN LAGE® MARIENBURG.

"OUR WINE STYLE: RIESLING OF FULLY RIPE GRAPES, SPONTANEOUSLY FERMENTED WITH LONG YEAST CONTACT."

VDP: Why did you become a vintner?

Clemens Busch: I never questioned the continuation of the family wine. Wine is my passion.

VDP: Do you have role models?

Clemens Busch: Pierre Masson is a role model: he has made biodynamics tangible for viticulture.

VDP: What are your next goals?

Clemens Busch: The handover to my son Johannes.

VDP: How do you combine tradition and innovation?

Clemens Busch: Tradition, that is the development in the Fuder and spontaneous fermentation. For me, innovation means being open to new approaches in biodynamics.

VDP:Why should I still visit your winery?

Clemens Busch: Hike through the vineyards of the Marienburg site, through the Rothenpfad, past our steep vineyards. And then you have to take a deep breath high up on the observation tower and Marienburg and at least once.
