The Max Müller I Winery from Volkach is now a member of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP). With Rainer and Christian Müller, the regional association VDP.Franken welcomes its 28th member.
"The joy we feel and the unity of the whole family strengthens us in our conviction to accept both a member who is absolutely striving for quality and a very sympathetic winemaking family into the circle of the VDP." Robert Haller, chairman of the VDP.Franken, is pleased about the new member. With this, the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) grows to a total of 199 member wineries.
The VDP.Estate Max Müller I
The Max Müller I winery is an estate built by the Würzburg prince bishops in 1692. Father Rainer, the third generation, and son Christian, who completed his training as a winemaker in Rheinhessen at the VDP.Estates Wittmann and Wagner-Stempel, together cultivate the approximately 21 hectares of vineyards, which are situated in the best locations along the Main river. On the soils characterised by shell limestone, grape varieties such as Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Scheurebe are cultivated – of course in addition to the leading Franconian grape variety Silvaner, which is also the winery's passion. This means that wine fans can look forward to more great wines from the already well-known vineyard sites VDP.ERSTE LAGE® Escherndorfer Lump and Sommeracher Katzenkopf as well as the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® RATSHERR in Volkach and AM LUMPEN 1655® in Escherndorf.
"Life surrounding wine is so exciting, so diverse, so motivating that it makes us happy every day. We inspire each other - that's the only way we continue to develop. And that as a family, over generations, with a great team - we couldn't ask for more." says the Müller family.
