The VDP.Rheinhessen gets sparkling growth

The first pure sparkling wine estate is accepted into the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP).

Volker Raumland founded the sparkling wine estate in 1984. Since 1990 the family has lived in the former Wilhelminian style villa of the furniture manufacturer Merkel in Flörsheim-Dalsheim.

Volker Raumland focused on the Burgundy varieties at an early stage. Today 80% of the 10 hectares of vineyards in Rheinhessen and the Palatinate are planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Estate has been eco-certified since 2002. The top vineyard sites of the Sekthaus are the vineyards BÜRGEL, KIRCHENSTÜCK (Hohen-Sülzen) and FRAUENBERG, which are classified as VDP.GROSSEN LAGE®.

With his two daughters Marie-Luise and Katharina, the next generation is already in the starting blocks.

Philipp Wittmann, the former regional chairman of the VDP.Rheinhessen, is pleased about the new addition:

"Volker Raumland has always been a master of German sparkling wine. It is an enrichment for the VDP.Rheinhessen.
