For generations, the Siegrist family has cultivated vines in the pretty wine village of Leinsweiler. After taking over the estate in 1974, Thomas Siegrist and his wife Gisela switched to direct marketing. In the meantime, a new generation has entered the business: daughter Kerstin, a viticultural engineer in oenology, and son-in-law Bruno Schimpf, a cellar master, who will carry on the tradition of the estate. Trying out new approaches in cellar technology has fascinated the family for years. New oak casks, for example, have played a decisive role since 1985. Not only the reds, but also the particularly full-bodied white musts acquire their character in barriques. The family’s motto reads: Every wine that bears our name we enjoy drinking ourselves. It lives up to our own high quality expectations.
