Riesling trocken

240 bottles | 0,75 l | starting price 90,00€ net/bottle

With the 2009 vintage, we vinified a single parcel at the top of the Morstein separately for the first time. Only in special vintages we offer the LA BORNE Alte Reben Riesling.

LA BORNE

"Laborn" used to be the name given by the "old Westhofeners" to the upper vineyards in the MORSTEIN site. This name was probably coined by the French occupiers in the nineteenth century. Today we harvest the LA BORNE in a small plot planted with very old vines in the upper hill.

THE SOIL

One of our oldest vineyards in the upper Morstein benefited particularly from its altitude. After a late harvest, a highly complex, fruit-intensive and at the same time mineral Riesling emerged from very small-berried grapes. Here one finds heavy clay marl soils with limestone deposits in the upper layer. The subsoil is dominated by water-bearing limestone rock layers, which ensure an optimal supply of nutrients and minerals, even during longer dry phases.
