WEISS ERD, Kostheim | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The name of the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® WEISS ERD can be translated to “white earth”, which is well suited because the soil indeed comprises calcareous, white marl that appears particularly white in the dry summer months. The GL is situated east of Kostheim above the Main River only a few kilometres from the mouth of the Rhine River. The vines thus enjoy the warm, moderate climate of the Rhine Plain. At the same time, cool air masses from the Taunus Mountain provide cool nights. The 7-hectare GL WEISS ERD stretches long and faces south at a 30 % slope gradient.
