The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® FEILS rises an impressive 73 percent gradient on the bank of the peninsula at the fork of the Saar and the Saar Channel and is planted with Riesling. Between the due south exposition and its proximity to the water, the Feils is one of the warmest sites in the Saar Valley. The site’s high solar radiation is further intensified by light reflected from the river. Further determining the microclimate is the temperature regulating effect of the Saar. The soils are rubble with a mixture of river sediments, sand, and pebbles. The GL FEILS encompasses 4.4 hectares.
