IM SONNENSCHEIN, Siebeldingen | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The name of the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® IM SONNENSCHEIN translates to “in the sunshine”, which indeed this directly south facing site is. It rises from 180 to 225 metres a.s.l. at a 5 to 20 % grade on a slope in the Quiechtal. This valley stretches in west to east direction in the foothills of the Palatinate Forest. The majority of the top sites in Pfalz face east, because they are situated on the slopes of the Haardt Mountains. This GL encompasses the original sites called “Berg” and “Im Sonnenschein”. Due to the subsidence and faulting of the Rhine Graben and the significant uplift of the Palatinate Forest, very old and deep-lying geological formations have been pushed to the surface in the vicinity of Siebeldingen. Limestone from the Triassic period 220 million years ago is dominates the soil of the GL IM SONNENSCHEIN.
