BADSTUBE, Bernkastel | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The soil of the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® BADSTUBE consists of greyblue slate with clay content. Loam is partly also present and the soil texture varies from rocky and coarse to fine grained. The GL BADSTUBE covers the middle of the slope along the Mosel. The vineyard rises from 110 to 250 metres above sea level at a steep 40- 65 percent incline and faces southwest to south. Many of the vines were planted around 1950 and are over 70 years old. History: The name Badstube probably stems from the Middle Ages when there was likely a hot spring here that was used for recreation.
