KRÖTENPFUHL, Bad Kreuznach | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KRÖTENPFUHL is located directly on the periphery of Bad Kreuznach at 135 – 153 metres a.s.l. Due to the abundance of small pebbles in the loamy gravel soils, this south-facing slope warms easily and stores the energy into the evening allowing grapes more time to ripen. There are aquifers deep under the surface of the GL KRÖTENPFUHL that provide sufficient moisture even in periods of drought. During rainy weather, water collects at the foot of the slope. The site has a 10 – 40 % gradient and encompasses seven hectares. History: The KRÖTENPFUHL has historically been the top site of Bad Kreuznach and is known under this name since 1832.
