PATERBERG, Nierstein | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®




The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® PATERBERG is located between Nierstein and Oppenheim and extends inland from the Rhine waterfront. The site rises toward the north and northwest from 121 to 176 metres a.s.l. The soil consists partially of limestone, the tertiary marine deposits of a calcareous algae reef, and in part from loess. Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is the predominant variety cultivated in the PATERBERG GL. History: Pater is the synonym for monk; the site was once owned by a monastery.
