The slopes of the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® KRANZBERG drop south and southwest toward the Rhine River and Nierstein and approach the Nierstein mountain church. Its soil is comprised of loess-loam over limestone and sandy-clayey loam subsoil. The site is for the most part a slope, but not steep. The climate of the KRANZBERG GL is, above all else, determined by its direct solar radiation, which is further amplified by the Rhine River, which yet also simultaneously transports cool air. The KRANZBERG GL lies between 125 and 129 metres a.s.l. Predominantly Riesling grows on the slopes.
History: The location was mentioned in 1418 by the name "off the Crausberge". It is assumed that the description of the individual situation relates to a person name.
