VDP: What is so special about your winery?

Moritz Haidle: We are the oldest winery in the Rems Valley and grow 50 percent Riesling. There are very old vineyard terraces directly behind the winery. We have been using the wooden barrels in which we spontaneously ferment our wines from these old terraces since 1950!

VDP: What is your winery philosophy ?

Moritz Haidle: The organic cultivation of Riesling and Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), spontaneously fermented and puristic in style.

VDP: For which wine style do you strive?

Moritz Haidle: We offer lean, mineral Rieslings and fresh, elegant Lemberger.

VDP: Which of your wines would you recommend to someone who does not yet know your winery – as an introduction, so to speak?

Moritz Haidle: Stettener Riesling Schilfsandstein VDP.ORTSWEIN.

VDP: Of which wine are you particularly proud?

Moritz Haidle: Riesling VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS® PULVERMÄCHER from Stetten.

VDP: Why did you become a vintner?

Moritz Haidle: Family tradition certainly played a role, but the decisive factor was an internship at the Rudolf Fürst winery in the Franken region. That’s what really awakened the passion for making wine in me!

“WE VINIFY TRADITIONAL GRAPE VARIETIES IN A MINIMALIST WAY.”

VDP: Who was your role model?

Moritz Haidle: My father, Hans Haidle.

VDP: What are your next goals?

Moritz Haidle: World Wide Württemberg!

VDP: How do you combine tradition and innovation?

Moritz Haidle: We vinify traditional grape varieties in a minimalist way. To this end, we practice organic farming and cultivate natural wine projects.

VDP: Why should people visit your winery?

Moritz Haidle: To see the Yburg ruin at the top of the old vineyard terraces above the winery. From there you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Rems Valley!

VDP: If your wine were music, what would it be?

Moritz Haidle: A fusion of soul, funk and rap.
