HERMANNSHÖHLE, Niederhausen | VDP.GROSSE LAGE®



The south facing VDP.GROSSE LAGE® HERMANNSHÖHLE lies directly on a bend in the Nahe River with perfect exposition to the sun. The vineyard slopes stretch between 130 and 175 metres a.s.l. The slope gradient is between 40 and 70 percent. The main soil is black-grey weathered slate with optimal capacity for storing warmth. This is mixed with extrusive igneous rock, limestone and porphyry with abundant fine earth. The share of rock is 15 percent and provides good soil drainage. It is prone to erosion in some areas. Primarily Riesling is cultivated in the GL Hermannshöhle. Info: The Hermannshöhle vineyard has been the most highly reputed site in the Nahe for over a century. It is the benchmark for the classification of other vineyards in the region.
